Wesley (Wes) Scott

Wesley (Wes) H. Scott passed away at St. Gabriel’s Benedictine Skilled Nursing Center in Bismarck on April 19, 2024.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, April 29, 2024, at Bethel Lutheran Church, 615 E. Turnpike Ave, Bismarck, with Pastor Justin Woodside officiating. Burial will take place at Grace Lutheran Cemetery in Driscoll.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Born on January 7, 1943, in Glendive, Montana, to Wallace and Dorothy (Eberly) Scott, Wes graduated from Savage High School in 1961 and went on to earn his degree from North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton. He spent his professional life with the State of North Dakota’s Highway Department, contributing to the state’s infrastructure.

On July 1, 1966, Wes married Shirley Fried in Bismarck, where they settled and raised their family. He had been a resident at St. Gabriel’s for the past 13 years following a stroke.

An enthusiast of speed, Wes spent his time racing snowmobiles, cars and motorcycles. He was perpetually engaged in projects, whether working in the garage on an engine or improving their home.

Wes is survived by his wife, Shirley;  daughter, Lisa Koch;  grandchildren, William and Addison Koch, all of Bismarck;  son, Jon (Julie) Scott and grandchild, Stella of Kalispell, Montana. He is also survived by his sisters, Dorothy Marie Hallquist of North Las Vegas, Nevada, and Sharon (Jerry) Gardner of Fairview, Montana.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at St. Gabriel’s for their compassionate care and dedication to Wes throughout his years at the facility.

So sorry Shirley … I loved talking to Wes about cars and giving him combs when he needed a colorful one. Sending you hugs.

My thoughts and prayers go out to you at this time. I always loved being at your house growing up and Wes treated me as one of his own. Your whole family was special to me and I wish we could have stayed in touch more.
