Terry W. Lahren, 65, of Mandan, passed away suddenly on August 26, 2023.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at Bismarck Funeral Home. Family will be greeting guests one hour prior to the service.

Terry Wayne Lahren was born on October 25, 1957 to Wayne and Elaine (Bender) Lahren in Mobridge, SD.  With the great work ethic he had, he followed in his dad’s footsteps and started working for the Milwaukee Railroad shortly after he graduated from high school.

In 1978 he moved to Mandan, ND and he started working for Burlington Northern Railroad.

He found the love of his life, Janet Ferderer, and they were married on April 2, 1982.

Terry was a true enthusiast, diving into various hobbies with unwavering dedication.  He made everything from entertainment centers to walking sticks.  He had a passion for barbecuing and smoking food that he shared with all three of his sons, often times making it an all-day event on the phone getting advice from them. He also liked being in the kitchen, but only to cook his famous chili and roasts, as well as baking and eating the cookies Janet would mix up for him. As a proud dad, he had a blast gaming with his sons, though they live far apart, it was a great way for them to stay connected.  He loved being on the open road in a fast car and had many motorcycles earlier in his life before transitioning to sports cars.  He cherished going for a drive down a winding road in his Corvette.  He also had a special love for his dogs who he spoiled immensely.

Terry will be remembered as a wonderful man who lived life his way and cherished his family dearly.  May his memory live on in your hearts.

Terry will be deeply missed by his wife, Janet; his children, Chad (Melanie) Lahren, Eric (Michelle) Lahren, and Alex Lahren; grandchildren, Cadence, Reese, Grayson, and Beckham; siblings, Lacey Lahren, Kevin (Trudy) Lahren, and Kent (Kelly) Lahren; brother-in-law, Tom Harper; mother-in-law Emilie Ferderer; brothers-in-law Jim Ferderer, David (Rachelle) Ferderer, Greg (Sherry) Ferderer; sisters-in-law Geralyn Farstad and Carol (Roger) Svihl; as  well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Elaine Lahren; his sister, Diane Harper; brothers-in-law Vern Farstad and Dave “Bean” Christman; and most recently his father in law Alex “Pops” Ferderer on July 4th.
