Robert ” boB ” Lawrence Weichel passed away March 18, 2024, in a Bismarck hospital.   Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., at Bismarck Funeral Home

He was born February 16, 1959, to Carl and Helen (Schumacher) Weichel.  He went to public school in Bismarck, graduating from Bismarck High School in 1977.  He attended Bismarck Junior College and took a course at the University of Mary.

He started working as a teenager at the Bismarck Bowling Center at Warehouse Market and Dan’s Super Value.  He had many stories to tell working at Dan’s Arrowhead and was proud of his time as a frozen food manager.  He worked for a short time with his dad at McQuade’s Disturbing in the recycling center.  He continued his career in grocery becoming a route salesman, 19 years with Frito Lay and 17 years with Bernatello’s Pizza.  He retired in 2020.

He married Lola Hopkins after a lengthy engagement on May 8, 1999. Together they enjoyed home improvement projects, shooting darts, camping, boating, traveling, which included National Bowling tournament’s, attending Minnesota Vikings games in Minneapolis, Chicago, and Denver, and their many trips to Las Vegas.

If he met someone once he considered them a friend, he always knew someone wherever he went. He liked practical jokes and was the best at keeping a straight face. When he told you a story you always got the long version full of unnecessary information. His smile and laugh were contagious, his heart in the right place, always wanted to help whenever he could.

Over the years he enjoyed instructing rifle safety and competing, playing softball, playing cards, tending the yard, garden and his apple trees, spending time with friends and family. His true passion was bowling, The Game (5% skill 95% luck he’d say), he coached Junior bowling, and was league secretary for many years in a few different leagues.   He bowled his perfect game on October 07, 1994, and was inducted into the Hall of Fame on February 26, 2023.

He is survived by his wife, children, David, Amanda, and Nicholas grandchildren Kenadie and Kaden, step granddaughter Tre Lynn; brothers Charlie (Sally), Mike, Dennis (Josie), Gord, Mark (Marlys), Byron, Rich (Mel) and Marlin (Barb) sisters Gwen (Mike) Brady and Glenda, many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He is proceeded in death by his parents. will be greatly missed by those who knew and cared about him.  If you loved him, he loved you more!
