Otto Bervik

Otto Bervik, age 88, of Bismarck died July 12, 2020 in a Bismarck care center. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 18th at First Lutheran Church, Bismarck. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service. Burial will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Otto was born October 11, 1931 to Sven and Brita Bervik of Divide County, ND.  He attended a one room rural school for eight years.  He graduated from high school in 1949 at Westby, MT.  He attended business college in Fargo, ND and returned home to help on the farm.

Otto married June Welsh of Garrison, ND on June 5,1955.  He rented a farm for seven years before moving to Bismarck in 1962 and taking a job at the State Land Department.  He worked there thirty years, retiring in 1992 to spend the winters in Arizona.

Otto and June had three children, Leann of Bismarck, Loren (Sara) of Grand Forks, and Larry of Lake Elsinore, CA.  There are two grandchildren, Jessica (Nate) Anderson of Brooklyn Center, MN and Paul (Liz) Bervik from Fargo.  Paul has two little great-granddaughters, Rhoda and Johanna.

Otto was active in Sons of Norway, serving in many different offices and positions.  He was a Kiwanian and an Elk member.  He was also an active member of First Lutheran Church of Bismarck, and had a strong faith in God.

He has three living sisters, Bernice Sessing of Minnesota, Kathleen Harstad and Selma Killmer, both of Colorado, and a sister-in-law, Glenny Bervik of Colorado.  There are also numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials will go to First Lutheran Church or Village Family Service Center in Fargo.
