Born on June 21, 2006, in Bismarck, Nick brought joy and charisma to the lives of all who crossed his path. The son of Lanae, Nick was a cherished younger brother to Jacob. From an early age, Nick’s natural charm and inquisitive spirit captivated those around him, becoming evident to all who knew him.

As a member of the St. Mary’s High School wrestling team, Nick showcased his tenacity and sportsmanship. His dedication to his athletic pursuits reflected his commitment to personal growth and excellence.

Beyond the athletic arena, Nick had a deep passion for music. His love for melodies and beats was evident to anyone who saw him, as he was rarely without his headphones, immersing himself in the rhythms that brought him joy. Music was not just a soundtrack to his life but a constant companion that enriched his experiences.

In addition to his love for music, Nick found joy in virtual adventures through video games. The friendships he forged in those digital realms were as genuine and meaningful to him as those in the physical world. Nick also embraced the thrill of exploring big cities and cherished the moments spent traveling and creating memories with family and friends.

Nick’s warm smile, infectious laughter, funny wit, love for deep intense conversation and genuine kindness will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to share in his journey. As we come together to mourn his passing, let us celebrate the vibrant and dynamic spirit that Nicholas ‘Nick’ Elias Bruington brought into our lives.

May Nick rest in eternal peace, and may his memory continue to brighten the lives of those who were fortunate enough to know him.

So very sad to hear of Nick’s passing. I enjoyed getting to know him during his time at St. Mary’s Academy. While he was here, he was a very likeable kid and had some good relationships with his classmates. My condolences to the family. May he rest in peace.

I did not know Nick or the family but my daughter and husband were. They speak very highly of Nick and what a tragedy. I don’t know how you find peace in something so tragic but I hope you feel God’s arms around you . He is with you even though it may not seem like it.
Our deepest sympathy,
Tony and Diane

My prayers for Nicks family. His death is heartbreaking; his obituary reveals a young man of spirit and creativity who is now free and at peace. But I pray for you every day.

What a beautifully written obituary . . . My heartfelt sympathy to all of Nick’s family.
May you find peace . . . .

It was with a heavy heart that I received the news of Nick’s passing. As a student of mine at St. Mary’s Academy, I don’t remember a single day that Nick didn’t stop by after class to say “thank you” or to ask a question to deepen his understanding of the material covered that day. He was a kind and gentle soul. His smile was infectious and brought smiles to all those in his presence. Please know of my deepest sympathy and condolences. May he rest in peace.

Nick was a very good friend to me. He always had some way to make me smile. Though I will miss our late-night drives and getting ice cream together. He was one of the best people I met. May he rest in peace.

We knew Nick through our son Jonny at Saint Marys. We would see him around and he would always say, with a very warm smile, “Jonny is a football legend.” Such a kind and nice young man. Our hearts broke when we heard of his tragic passing. Please take comfort knowing that even in hard times, he was truly a great kid. Find solace also knowing that our God is ever loving and ever forgiving and that Nick will rest now forever in peace. Extending our deepest sympathy to all who new and loved him.

I will always remember Nick as that sweet little boy who had such great style! He would often wear that leather jacket when I would see him with Lanae and Jacob . I remember thinking how cool he was .

I will also always remember his laugh, bright smile, and personality. That’s what sticks out the most to me. What a special guy. My heart hurts for you all. Prayers and condolences to you all for this unimaginable loss ♥️ 🙏😢

Words cannot express how much I loved this precious magical child and how special he was to me and to our world. What a vibrant, enchanting, darling, gorgeous gift to me and to the world. All my love and prayers to all of Nick’s beloved family. ❤️
