24 Jul Milton “Bud” Zimbelman

Milton (Bud) Zimbelman, 91, Bismarck, passed away after a rough battle with congestive heart failure and metastasized colon cancer…God granted him his heavenly wings on July 21, 2023.  Funeral services will be on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. at Bismarck Funeral Home.  The funeral will be livestreamed on the Bismarck Funeral Home website.  Visitation will be on Tuesday, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Interment will be at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.

Milton was born July 5, 1932, the youngest of 6 children to the late Edgar and Murial Zimbelman. Ed quickly gave him the nickname Bud, which stuck and most everyone knows him by. He grew up on the family farm in Oakes ND, after completing school he went on to serve with the Army Airborne in Germany. He then came home, fell in love and married the love of his life, Elaine. They loved each other dearly and could be seen holding hands everywhere they went. They were a wonderful example of Love and a faithful marriage for 62 years.

After they were married, they lived on the family farm. They eventually found their forever home in Bismarck where they raised their family. They were blessed with two daughters that they were both so very proud of, Debbie and Connie.

Bud had many skills which included hauling logs out in Oregon, and brick laying, helping to build the Trinity Hospital in Minot ND. After trying his hand at a few careers, he settled down with the jobs he loved; trucking   and auctioneering. Bud and Elaine ran a dispatch office for Barrett Mobile Home Transport until they started their own business. Together they owned and operated Bud’s Mobile Home Transport until they retired. During the time he drove truck, he also was encouraged to go to auctioneer school in Montana and then started Zimbelman Auction Company. Becoming one of the best Auctioneers around, he took first place in the ND Auctioneer Association competition in 1978. Retirement couldn’t slow Bud down. Since he had encouraged Marc and Connie to start Berger’s Mobile home transport, he then decided to drive for them until the age of 80. Still not able to slow down, he then drove for Weisz & Sons for several years. He decided it was time to finally slow down when his beloved Elaine became sick and take care of his true love until her death. Bud was a hardworking man, loved and respected by so many. The impact he left on us along with the many stories and memories we all have of him will be treasured forever.

Bud was survived by his two daughters; Debbie (Justin) Dennison-Adams, Connie (Marc) Berger; their six grandchildren, Satina (Nathan) Tolman, Kimberley (Brandon) Schmidt, Crystal (Joshua) Ova, Holly (William) Hubbard, Rebecca Dennison and her fiancé Jesse Kysar, and Elsie Berger, 15 Great grandchildren; Nicholas, Tatiana, Benjamin, Andrew; Rylee, Jaxon, Hailee; Asher, Isabella, Oliver; Carter, Ryder, Alexander; Makella, Braelynn, along with 1 Great Great Grandchild, Faith and many numerous loved ones and friends who will miss Him so very much.

Bud was welcomed at Heaven’s gate by his forever love Elaine, his parents, brothers, sisters, his son-in-law Steven, and his only grandson Christopher.
