Mary Moorhouse, 85, of Bismarck, passed away October 4, 2023, at Methodist hospital, St. Louis Park, MN.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, October 12, at the Church of St. Anne, Bismarck, ND.  Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bismarck, ND.  The family will be receiving guests one hour prior to the service.

Mary was born on May 20, 1938, in Fargo, ND, the daughter of Ralph and Vivienne (Gilbraith) Link. She learned never to get attached to a place for too long, as her family frequently moved from place to place around the midwest, building roadways and working on other national infrastructure projects during the World War II era.

Later, Mary would move to Seattle to pursue higher education at Seattle University, and while there created many memories and created lifelong friendships. After the birth of her son, Scott, Mary returned to North Dakota to be closer to family. She worked in Bismarck for many years at the Capitol Building, in the Legislative Council, supporting the state government and enduring many late nights during legislative session.

In her retirement, Mary enjoyed practicing her Catholic faith, cheering on the Minnesota Vikings, attending family reunions, and keeping in touch with her friends. She was happy to join for lunch or movie night meetups, and always loved spending time talking with others, especially if there was a good joke and a laugh to share.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a memorial donation to AARC of North Dakota.

Those WE LOVE don’t go away, they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near, so loved, so missed, so very dear.
WE ~ were not made for this world; WE ~ were made for Heaven. Lord, help US to realize that WE ALL have only one soul, only one death to die, only one life, and only one glory, which IS Eternal.
Blessings & Love,

Mary was my “proofing partner” the first year I worked for the Legislative Council. She was a wonderful teacher and we became good friends. She was very dedicated and knowledgeable about the legislative process and made the job fun. Throughout the years we have stayed touch (not often enough) and caught up on the time between chats. She always had a contagious laugh and an introspective thought to share. I will miss her.
