MARILYN S. VINCHATTLE

Marilyn S. Vinchattle, 72, Bismarck, ND and Georgetown, TX passed away unexpectedly Aug. 25, 2019 surrounded by her loving family at Sanford Medical Center, Bismarck.

A celebration of her life will be held Thursday, August 29, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Lynne Center at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 106 Osage Ave. Bismarck, with Pastor Julie Anderson providing a prayer service at 5 p.m.

Marilyn was born Feb. 5, 1947 in Fort Dodge, IA to Erle and Covie (Robbins) Quick.  She attended school in Gowrie, IA and earned degrees from Iowa State University in Elementary Education and Child Development in 1969.  She taught elementary school in Fort Dodge, IA and Ames, IA for six years, until her first child was born.  She was a full-time mother until her youngest child was 6.  Because of her love of children and reading, she returned to work as a Library Aide at Miller Elementary in Bismarck, where she worked for 18 years.

Marilyn met David Vinchattle when she was 16 while visiting his church in Calendar, IA with a friend.  They were high school sweethearts, and married on February 24, 1968.  Since retiring, they spent their years traveling between their homes in Bismarck, Georgetown, and a cabin in Minnesota, visiting family and friends around the country, and traveling to Europe, Mexico, Australia and South America.  Her hobbies included reading, gardening, golf, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Marilyn is survived by David, her children Chad (Amanda), Seth (Valerie), Drew (April), and BreAnne; five grandchildren, Natalie, Aron, Ethan, Nathan, and Zane; three sisters, Sharon (Vern) Jones, Susan (Keith) Armstrong, and Cindy Quick; one brother, Robert (Covie Ann) Quick; brothers-in-law, Gary (Linda) Vinchattle and Dale Means; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister-in-law Judy Mikonowicz; and sister-in-law DeeAnn (Dale) Means.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Miller Library Fund, 1989 N 20th St, Bismarck, ND 58501.
