Leonard Sperle

Leonard Sperle, 86 of Bismarck, passed away on April 12, 2024 at Baptist Health and Rehab.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at 10:30am at Church of St. Anne, Bismarck with Father Kregg Hochhalter presiding.  Burial will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery.  Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 16 from 5-8pm at the Bismarck Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7pm.

Leonard was born on March 17, 1938 to Sebastian and Magdelena (Becker) Sperle in Logan County, ND.

In September 1959 he married Rosemarie Bernhardt at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Linton, ND.  The couple first lived in the Napoleon area and then later moved to Bismarck where Leonard retired after working 22 years for the State of North Dakota in Facilities Management.

Leonard was a jack of all trades who enjoyed working on househould projects including carpentry, plumbing, electrical work and various other projects. He enjoyed watching golf and spending time with his wife and family.

He is survived by his sister, Ann Rathbun, Bismarck; daughters, Bonnie (Roger)Skelton, Frederick, CO and Stacy Sperle (Brian Yates), San Diego, CA; son, Leon (Chris) Sperle, Bismarck; grandsons, Aaron Sperle, Jordan (Aeshia) Sperle;  two great grandchildren, Cohen and Cooper Sperle, all from Colorado; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife Rosemarie; brother Martin Sperle; sister-in-law Ann Sperle and brother-in-law Lee Rathbun.

My husband, Dennis Dockter, worked at the Capitol and knew Leonard and Rosemarie. He spoke highly of them and it was always a pleasure to bump into them around town. My sincere sympathy

What a Couple of day lifters. They were so much fun. Always so friendly, wish we could’ve spent more time hangin.
