Leo was born on June 22, 1951 to Joseph and Margaret (Zins) Hoff of Flasher, ND. As a teenager he met his beloved and loyal wife, Susan Nelson.  These high school sweethearts were married on June 16th, 1973.  They began growing their family on March 11th, 1974 when they welcomed their first of three children, who would be the center of their lives forever.

Leo loved his family dearly and spent all his free time supporting his children’s interests and many activities. He thrived on being outdoors and was happiest while sitting in a boat, rod in the water, enjoying the chill of early morning.  Summers were always a time of fishing and camping with his family where he instilled his values and appreciation for nature with his children.  Fall was dedicated to hunting with his sons, nephews, and his best friend Vince Leuwer, hanging out in his blind, waiting for that elusive trophy mule buck, cup of coffee in hand.  He was also heavily involved in his children’s sporting activities in their younger years, never missing a game if possible.

Leo was an incredibly talented and all around handy individual.  There were very few things he couldn’t do.  He gave his time and talents generously to anyone in need and was truly loved by all who knew him.  His humility knew no bounds and you would NEVER hear him talk about himself.  Nor would you EVER hear him speak a bad word about anyone.  He was a true gentleman always putting others ahead of himself and never forgetting his manners.  It was equally important to him that he instill these same values into his children.

True to his nature, Leo was a hardworking and loyal employee of Cloverdale Foods for over 32 years before retiring at age 62.  In his retirement, he continued to selflessly give his time to his brothers and nephews on their farms in Flasher, which he always loved doing.

Leo is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Susan Hoff; daughter Chantel Luhmann with husband Chris and daughters Ella and Brook; son Les Hoff with wife Ann and daughter Leah; son Bob Hoff with wife Suzanne and son Riley; sisters JoAnn Kokales, Evelyn Miller, Phyllis Pasicznyk, Bernice (Tim) Thomas, Joyce (John) Miller, Charlotte Krebs, Jeannie (Marty) Babel, and Jacquelyn Brandt; brothers Leander Hoff, Lawrence (Mavis) Hoff, and John (Pam) Hoff; sister-in-law Janice Hoff; and numerous nieces and nephews.  Leo was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Margaret Hoff, brother Raymond Hoff, infant sister Loretta Hoff, brothers-in-law Jim Kokales, Ray Miller, and Marvin Pasicznyk, and best friend Vince Leuwer.
