Herman Munsch

Herman Konrad Munsch, 91, of Bismarck, North Dakota, passed away August 22, 2023.  A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, August 28 at the

Bismarck Funeral Home, Bismarck, North Dakota, with Pastor Martha HarriSon officiating.

Visitation will be held Sunday, August 27 from 6:30-8:30 pm at Bismarck Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 7:00 pm.

The burial will be at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Mandan, North Dakota, as Herman was a proud veteran of the Korean War.

Herman was born May 29, 1932, in Artas, South Dakota, the third of four children; one brother and two sisters.  He was married on February 14, 1958, to

Twila Schiermeister.  He worked at Scherr Plastering and Drywall from 1963 until he retired in 2001.

Herman enjoyed his work.  In retirement, he enjoyed fishing with his grand-kids and helping Bonnie with her gardening and the Farmer’s Market.

Herman will be deeply missed by his wife Twila, sons Brian (Kim), Doug, Michael (special friend Jody), William (Yuko) and daughter Bonnie (Bruce); grandchildren Jeramie (special friend Rachael), Stephanie (Austin Hinsz), Jennifer (Kyle Hanson), Jessica (Alex Trout), Gregg Peterson, Gina Abell, Karin (special friend Tyler Chanthavong), Marina, Luka and honorary granddaughter Sarah Kraft.  Great grandchildren Emslee and Stryder Hinsz, Trenten, Trevor and Tegan Hanson, Carter, Kennedy and Laketon Trout. Brothers-in-law Harvey, Myron (Leota), Steven (Susan) Schiermeister.  Sisters-in-law Darlene (Leon Philbrick), Violet (Gary Eliason), Sherry, Marlene, many nieces, nephews and friends

He was preceded in death by parents Henry and Alma Munsch, brother Henry, his sisters and brothers-in-law Johanna & Rieny Siebel and Amelia & Elmer Martel, Galen Kerzmann and Dennis Oster & Jewel Schiermeister, daughter-in-law Pamela Munsch, nephews James Oster and Scott Schiermeister and grandson Nicholas Munsch.

Herman was such a nice man with a quick wit and cute sense of humor. I worked at MSLCC and he was one of my favorite residents. RIP Herman. Prayers for the family.

My sympathy at the passing of Herman. I had the honor of visiting him over years along with Twila and Sam. We commend him to our Heavenly Father’s care awaiting that blessed reunion in the resurrection.
