Glenna Rae Bauer, 80 passed away September 29,2022, in Bismarck at Sanford Health.

Glenna was born May 26, 1942, in Carrington, ND to Samuel Nicolson and Olive (Anderson) Nicolson.   She was raised on a farm outside of Carrington and graduated from Carrington High School.

Glenna was united in marriage to Gary Bauer on September 5, 1960.   From this unity they had 3 children.  They made their life in Riverton, Wy.  After their divorce she and her daughter moved back to Carrington.  In 2017 she moved to Bismarck to be closer to her daughter and her family.  During her life she spent many years as a surgical assistant working in the Mandan Hospital and Riverton Memorial Hospital.  While in Carrington she worked as a manager for the Carrington Vet’s Club.

Glenna enjoyed telling stories of her past on the farm and stories of raising her children but mostly she loved following her grandkids and great-grandkids sports activities, whether it was in person or on social media.  She took great pride in all of them.  She was the queen of posting comments on Facebook and known to everyone for all her witty comebacks.

Glenna is survived by her sons, Joseph (Melanie) Bauer, Douglas (Tera) Bauer both of Riverton Wy, and her daughter Tammi (Joshua) Randolph, Lincoln, ND.  Her brother Ralph Nicolson, Sacramento, CA; her sister, Donna Bakken, Bismarck, ND; and brother-in-law, Rolland (Dee-Dee) Topp, Billings MT.  Her 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

She is proceeded in death by her parents, sister, Sandra Topp, and infant great-grand daughter Kyler Weber.

Thank you to all of the Sanford Health care givers.  A special Thank you to Dr. Stahl for taking the time to get to know Glenna in the last couple months; Dr Dan Field and team- for taking the time to listen and knowing when something was just not quite right with her.  She always hoped to get to dance at Bucks with Dr. Field.  The staff on 2se, you are nothing short of amazing, you were like a second family to her and showed such compassion to our sweet mom.  God Bless you ALL.

A celebration of Glenna’s life will take place at a later date.

In lieu of plants or flowers the family requests donations to support nursing education at Sanford Health Bismarck in Glenna’s memory.  Checks can be made payable to Sanford Health Foundation and mailed to PO Box 5525, Bismarck, ND 58506.

Aunt Glenna – You will be sorely missed and lovingly remembered! Anytime I hear the word “oatmeal” – I will always think of you! Peace and Blessings.

No more suffering. Rip till we meet again later.

Sending condolences to Tammi and the rest of the family. Glenna was always a pleasant resident when we met at 100 West Main. I enjoyed getting to know her and hear all about her grandchildren. My thoughts will be with you all while you grieve the loss of this sweet soul.
