Charles “Chuck” Maynard Hitchcock

Charles “Chuck” Maynard Hitchcock, 78, Bismarck, passed away June 12, 2024. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday June 25th, 2024 at Bismarck Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Narum officiating. Burial will take place at a later date at Oakwood Cemetery in Lisbon next to his wife Sue.

Chuck was born April 25, 1946 in Fargo ND to Maynard and Evelyn Hitchcock. He grew up on a farm outside of Lisbon ND where he was involved in 4-H club and the FFA. He graduated from Lisbon High School in 1964 and went on to obtain a degree in Electrical Technology at ND State School of Science. Chuck joined the Navy in 1967 and was a Vietnam Veteran where he served on river patrol boats and the USS Force minesweeper. Chuck was onboard the Force when the engine caught fire and sank, luckily the entire crew survived. On February 19, 1972 he married Suzanna “Sue” Marie Hitchcock and shortly afterwards they moved from Lisbon to Bismarck, ND where they had 3 children together and where active members of Trinity Lutheran church. He worked at Becker Electric for some time and then obtained a Masters license and started Chuck’s Electric. Chuck enjoyed wood working and working on anything electrical. He did many wood working projects anywhere between picture frames to games for the Riverside Elementary carnival including Plinko and Wheel of Fortune. After Sue passed on December 2, 2013 Chuck joined a grief share group to help cope with his loss where he made many friends. He continued on for many years there helping others cope with the loss of their loved ones.

He is survived by his 3 children Heidi (Mike) Durako, Plattsmouth Nebraska; Heather Hitchcock Wanner, Bismarck; and Trevor (Melissa) Hitchcock, Dickinson; his 4 grandchildren Alexis Wanner, Tyler Durako, Paige Wangen, and Isabella Hitchcock; and his 3 sisters Gail (Mike, deceased) Palmer, Elk River, MN; Phyllis (Gary, deceased) Olson, Fargo; and Sheryl (Virgil) Dagman, Lisbon.

He is preceded in in death by his wife and parents.

I worked at Dakota Supply Group for 29 years, I met chuck when he worked for Bernie Becker. Chuck always had a smile when he came in to get electrical products. He is and will always be a favorite customer that I had the privilege to know.
