Kenneth Walter Traxel, 58, of Bismarck, went to be with the Lord, peacefully in his home, on November 12, 2019. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2019, at 11 a.m., at Bethel Lutheran Church, Bismarck. Burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery following the service at 2 p.m.

Ken was born April 30, 1961 to LeRoy and Norma (Zeiszler) Traxel, in Hazen, ND. He was the second eldest of four children. He graduated from Beulah High School in 1979. While attending Williston State College, Ken was set up on a blind date with the beautiful Peggy Mayer and he ended up missing the first date because he had fallen asleep. Thankfully Peggy agreed to a second date and the rest is history. They were married on June 4, 1982 in Sherwood, ND and they built a wonderful life together.

Ken had a larger than life personality and was a true joy to be around. He was known for his quick wit, his infectious smile, and his kind and compassionate spirit. He loved spending time with his family and bestowed many great qualities among his three children including a love for Jesus Christ, a sense of humor, kindness, patience, a hard work ethic, a love of music and working with tools.
In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, reading, going to movies with his family and working in his shop. One of his proudest accomplishments was restoring a 1946 Chevy Pickup. He loved to take it out on Cruise Night and give rides to his family members.
Ken is survived by his wife Peggy of 37 years; sons, Andrew Traxel and Dustin (Kelsey) Traxel; daughter, Elisha (Greg) Peltz; grandchildren, Jacquelynn Traxel, Eden Peltz; mother, Norma Traxel; sister, Beverly (Monte) Gegelman; and many loving nieces, nephews and extended family. Ken was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to everyone.
He was preceded in death by his son, Christopher Traxel; father, LeRoy Traxel; sister, LeAnn Traxel; brother, Gene Traxel & sister-in-law, Beverlee (Traxel) DeWaard; maternal grandparents, Walter & Pauline Zeiszler; paternal grandparents, Robert and Erna Traxel; brother-in-law, Lynn Mayer; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Donald and Gloria Mayer.
