VIOLA FISCHER

Viola Fischer, 96, Bismarck, passed away June 11, 2019.  Her life will be celebrated at a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 15th, at Legacy United Methodist Church in Bismarck, with visitation one hour prior to the service.  Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck.

Viola was born in Streeter, ND on Dec. 18, 1922 to William and Mathilda (Seher) Remmich.  She graduated from Steele High School.  While attending high school, she worked at Kidder County News as a linotype operator.  Vi then went to Seattle, WA where she worked at Sears Catalog Department as a milograph operator.

Viola married Melvin Fischer on Dec. 29, 1946.  They raised four daughters and one son: Wanda, Connie, Donna, David and Marcia.  Viola made many hand-quilted quilts, crocheted afghans, and embroidered gifts for her children and grandchildren.  She also enjoyed activities at the Bismarck Senior Center.

Viola is survived by her daughters, Wanda (Dewey) Kertzman, Eureka Springs, AR; Connie (JoRay) Rising, Regan, ND; Donna Stegmiller and Marcia (Michael) Dunn, Bismarck; 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; sisters Florence Fischer, Rachel DeKrey and LoEtta Sellner, Bismarck, and Arlene Kirk, Devils Lake, ND. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Melvin, son David, sisters Emma Kapp, Elsie Whitman, and Leah Sutnik, and brothers Alvin and Lorran Remmich. 

Viola will be remembered for her constant concern for others and will be missed dearly by her family.
