Shannon Luthander

It is with great sadness that the family of Shannon John “Red” Luthander announce his passing, on Thursday May 9th, 2019, at the age of 91.  Funeral services will held on Thursday, May 16, 2019, at 12:30 p.m., at the Bismarck Funeral Home.  Visitation for friends and family will be held Wednesday, May 15, 2019, from 5:00-7:00 p.m., with a prayer service and eulogy beginning at 7:00 p.m., at the Bismarck Funeral Home.  Red will be laid to rest, at 2:00 p.m., at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery (1825 46th St, Mandan, ND 58554).

Red proudly served our country in the U.S. Army, in Korea.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.  Red had a very successful career with Consolidated Freightways for over 40 years and was a member of the Teamsters Union.  Along with spending time with his family he loved to golf and was an avid fisherman.

Red will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his children, Gary Luthander, Shelly (Dave) Olson, Kristi (Alan) Gannon; his sister, Margee (Denny) Obrien; his grandchildren, Keith Gallaway, Brenda Gannon, Thomas (Jess) Gannon, Austin Olson; his great-grandchild, Rubye Gallaway; along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

Red was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Mary Jane Luthander; his eldest son, Bryan Luthander; his parents, John August and Ethel Elizabeth Luthander; and sisters, Betty & Kaye.
