Sebastian Masseth, 97, Bismarck, passed away on October 18, 2018 in a Bismarck hospital. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Monday, October 22, 2018, at the Bismarck Funeral Home.
Sebastian was born on January 14, 1921 to Adam and Philipina (Feist) Masseth in Logan County where he was raised and educated in the Napoleon area.
He married Magdalena Wolf at St. Michael’s Catholic Church on September 4, 1944. Sebastian and Magdalena farmed for four years and then moved to Bismarck in the fall of 1948.
Sebastian worked as a truck driver for Bison, Mercury and Century freight lines for 33 years. At the time of his retirement in 1982, he was awarded the ND Division of Public Safety Award. This award was given to him because he had driven 1 million miles without an accident.
Sebastian enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling and camping with his wife and playing cards with family and friends was a great past time form him.
Sebastian was especially proud of his family and will be deeply missed. He is survived by his son Myron (Joyce), Bismarck; daughter, Sharon Masseth, Bismarck; daughter-in-law, Linda Masseth, Bismarck; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Gean (Val) Gross, Bismarck and Rosie Vetter, Fargo; and his nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his wife Magdalena, his parents, son Kenneth, grandson Kelly, brothers, George, James, Adam, Pete and Joe Masseth and his sisters, Mary Kraft, Juliana Chmielewski, Regina Reuer and Elizabeth Masseth.
