Rose Mary (Roubal) Strand, 84, Regan, died Nov 5, 2018 at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center after a year-long courageous fight with cancer. Visitation will be held from 5-7 pm, Thurs. Nov 8th at Bismarck Funeral Home with prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Friday, Nov 9th at 10:00 am at Sunne Lutheran Church, rural Wilton. Burial to be held at Regan Cemetery.
Rose, the daughter of Anton and Bertha Roubal Sr., was born Dec 24, 1933 on the Roubal family farm near Regan. She graduated from Regan Public School in 1953. Rose married her high school sweetheart on June 10, 1954. They lived on the Strand family farm for 64 years. Rose and Barney were blessed with two children, Richard and Sindy (Schmitz). Rose loved flower and vegetable gardening, crafting and was well-known for her furniture repair and upholstery work. She participated in the community serving on many committees and boards. Rose was a self-taught artist and loved painting. She was very active with the Sunne Lutheran Church, Homemakers and Ladies Aid organizations. She loved visitors and entertaining. The coffee pot was always on!
Rose is survived by her husband, Barney, two children, Richard (Deborah), Sindy Schmitz (Burt); 4 grandchildren, Lindsey Novak (Jerame), Kirk (Danielle), Cordell (Abby), Kayla Schmitz (Austin Wiest); three great-grandchildren, Grant and Reese Novak, Colter Schmitz and two great-grandchildren due in 2019; and many nieces and nephews.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents, Anton and Bertha Roubal; her brother, Tony Roubal and her in-laws Barney Sr. and Charlotte Strand.
