Robert (Bob) Paul Meidinger, 80, Bismarck, died September 14 th , 2022 with his loving son by his side.
Bob was born on May 8 th , 1942 in Bismarck, ND to Paul and Bernice Meidinger. He graduated from Mandan High School in 1960. The fall after high school he proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force and served for 4 years. After discharge, he attended the University of North Dakota obtaining degrees in Business Administration and Accounting.
On July 25 th , 1970, Bob married Mary Ann Peterson of Minneapolis, MN in Bismarck, ND. They were blessed with 2 sons, Erik and Trent. A lover of the water, Bob enjoyed spending his free time on the Missouri River and Lake Sakakawea where the family had a cabin for many years. To pay for the constant upkeep of the cabin, he held several positions with the State of ND at the State Library, State Radio, and Office of Management and Budget before retiring in June, 1999.
After retirement, Bob and Mary Ann became snowbirds wintering in Orange Beach, AL for over 15 years. In his retirement, he was thrilled to have the opportunity to watch his grandkids excel in school and sports activities, as well as FaceTiming when they couldn’t be together. Bob could also be found out riding bike, walking, chatting it up at the local Menards or “exercising” at the Y. He loved to socialize and no matter where he went in town there was someone to talk to.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Mary Ann, parents Paul and Bernice Meidinger, and sister Kay Stevens.
Bob is survived by his son Erik Meidinger, daughter-in-law Kristin, grandkids Grant and Grace, Bismarck, ND; son Trent Meidinger and grandson Hensen, St. Paul, MN; brothers Leon Meidinger (Myrna), Bismarck, ND; Bruce Meidinger (Dede), Fargo, ND; Gary Meidinger (Sandy), Mandan, ND.
There will be no funeral service held. A private burial will take place at the Veteran’s Cemetery, Mandan, ND at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make a charitable donation to Caring Edge Hospice/Bismarck or to the Veteran’s Cemetery in Mandan.
