Richard “Dick” Orne, 81, of Bismarck, ND, died on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at a Bismarck hospital.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, June 19, 2021, at Bismarck Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Fairview Cemetery, Bismarck. A Livestream of the Service will be available on the Bismarck Funeral Home Facebook page.
Dick was born on December 27, 1939, to Ben and Bernice Orne on the family farm. He attended country school graduating from Driscoll High School in 1957. He worked various jobs in his younger years. On August 22, 1959, he married Yvonne (Vonnie) Morast. Following their marriage, they moved to Bismarck where he worked at Bill Skelly. In 1960 he joined the Bismarck Fire Department where he worked for 41 years, retiring on May 15, 2001, as Captain.
Dick loved spending time with his family.
Dick will be deeply missed by his wife, Vonnie of 61 years; daughter, Rhonda (Will) Rutschke; granddaughters Jillian Nelson (Mike Sanford), great grandsons, Ben and Max Nelson; granddaughter, Jennafer Vilness (Dustin Waldo); son, Mike (Amy); granddaughter, Ashley Orne (Steven Behunin); grandson, Brandon Orne (Caitlyn Barber); great granddaughters, Mila June Orne and Skylar Barber; and sisters-in-law, Leona and Connie Orne.
He is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and two sisters.
