Ralph (RP) was born October 23, 1961 in Williston, the first son to Ralph M. and Julia Lipelt. He graduated from Wilton High School in 1980. While working road construction in Pick City he met his bride Kami and was married on January 20, 1990.
In 1993 he was blessed with the birth of a beautiful daughter, Kelsie and in 1996 with the birth of a handsome son, Skylar. He was always so proud of them and so excited to see the success they would achieve in their future. He would always say, "I can't believe we have such great kids. It was just too easy." Some of his most recent joys have been being able to take Kelsie down the aisle on her wedding day and being able to help move Skylar in and get him all ready for his spring semester at UND.
R.P. spent his working career in the construction and energy arenas. His two most long-term positions were with Earthworks and North American Coal out at the Falkirk Mine. He obtained a couple different positions while at Falkirk; one including the privilege of being the first to operate the 4100 Electric Shovel. He also ran the dragline Chief Iron Side for multiple years. Other highlights of his working career were having a hand in the groundwork of building the BSC Bowl and Hawk Tree Golf Course. R.P. collected many lifelong friends along the journey through all of his places of employment; R.P. found these relationships to be some of the most rewarding parts of his successful career voyage.
R.P. was passionate about hunting, fishing and, of course, watching his favorite football team, the Seattle Seahawks. These passions led him to create a bucket list encompassing these hobbies. His "bucket list" items achieved were going to a Seahawks game in Century Link Field and Fishing in the Governor's Cup.
R.P. was known by everyone to be the comic relief in almost any situation. He's always the first to make a creative - and hilarious- comment and always has the goal of making everyone around him laugh. R.P.'s character was rich with generosity and thoughtfulness of everyone he cared about. His witty personality and kindness drew many people to him; his consistency with his family made them very tight knit. Even though he will be deeply missed by many we take comfort in knowing he is casting a line with his Father in Heaven!
Ralph P. Lipelt is survived by his wife of 29 years: Kami, his two children: Kelsie (Kyle) & Skylar, his parents: Julia & Ralph M., his siblings: Judith, Dawn, Deniece, Grant, Kent and Brent, and multiple nieces and nephews.
