Pius Kelsch, 83, passed away on January 11, 2020, peacefully in his home. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, January 15, 2020, at 10:00 a.m., at Church of the Ascension, in Bismarck. Monsignor Gene Lindemann will be officiating the service.
Burial will take place following the service at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 5:00-7:00 p.m., at the Church of the Ascension. Rosary and Vigil will begin at 7:00.
Pius was born in Linton, ND, to Frank and Mary (Wingerter) Kelsch on March 6, 1936. He graduated from St. Mary’s Central High School in 1956.
He worked as a heavy equipment operator in addition to doing carpentry work for many years.
Music was an important passion to Pius. He greatly enjoyed playing his bass guitar at the Church of the Ascension and St. Mary’s Church.
One of the highlights of Pius’s life was recording a record in Nashville, TN, in 1979.
Pius is survived by his brother, Alex; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother and six sisters.
