Minnie Marie Rostad of Bismarck passed away peacefully at the age of 94 on December 17, 2024 at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center.
She was born May 9, 1930 to Gustav and Katerina (Katie) Reinisch, and raised on the family farm in the Hiddenwood area near Makoti. She attended local schools and graduated from Ryder High School in 1948. In 1949, she married Lyle Rostad and for 25 years, they lived, farmed and raised their family near Ryder. Their son, Clyde, was born in 1951 and daughter, Carmin, in 1961. They divorced in 1975 and Minnie moved to Dickinson, and later to Bismarck. She worked various jobs, mostly involved in the food and restaurant industry, in Garrison, Dickinson, and Bismarck. One of her favorite jobs was working at the Germans from Russia Heritage Society. She was well known in the senior community of the Bismarck-Mandan area where she volunteered as a Senior Companion for 24 years.
Minnie is survived by her son, Clyde (Debby); granddaughter, Nichole; grandson, Craig (Sara), and great-grandsons, Nicholas and Christopher, all of Colorado. Also survived by step-grand children, Chaneen Bartole, Jesse Bartole, Joe Bartole (Tiffany); step-great-grandson, Vance Bartole; sisters-in-law, Helen Rostad and Marlys Hanson, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Carmin; son-in-law, Michael Bartole, and her 6 brothers and 4 sisters.
The family wishes to thank the 4th floor staff at MSLCC for their excellent care and especially her dear friends Norma Fuhrman and Gerald Fischer for all their help, friendship, and unwavering support.
At Minnie’s request, a celebration of life will not be held. The family prefers donations to Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center (missourislope.com). Minnie’s ashes will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Minot in the spring.
