Mary (Doll) Fisher, 98, Bismarck, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family, on Tuesday, April 2, 2019. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 6, 2019 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Bismarck. Burial will take place immediately following the ceremony, at Mandan Union Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m., Friday, with a rosary at 7:00 p.m., at Bismarck Funeral Home.
Mary was born March 17, 1921, to Fred and Marian (Steiner) Doll at their Solen farm home. She was the seventh of ten children. While growing up, Mary worked hard on the family farm and attended Copenhagen School.
Mary married Emil Fisher Jr., on September 27, 1938. They owned a farm in the Fallon area where they raised cattle, hogs, chicken and geese. She loved gardening, doing a lot of canning, and milking the cows to sell cream and sold eggs to help put food on the table for her family. She helped her husband in the field until 1997, when they moved to Bismarck, due to her husbands failing health. They were married two weeks short of 61 years.
Mary loved the holidays, cooked German food; Her German potato salad was one of a kind. She baked the best bread. Mary loved to listen to Polka music and play cards. She did her own lawn care and snow removal up to the age of 95. Mary’s catholic faith gave her the courage to get through her health issues.
Mary was a caregiver to her husband, daughters-in-law, son-in-law and son before their deaths.
Mary is survived by her sons, Eugene (Margie), Fargo, Raymond (Cora), Bismarck, and Norman (Jeanette), Bismarck; daughter Elaine (Arnie) Morrell-Wall, St. Anthony; sister, Rose Friesz, Billings, MT; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchildren.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Marian Doll; husband, Emil Fisher, Jr.; son, Ken Fisher; three infant children; daughters-in-law, Luella Fisher and Mary Fisher; son-in-law, William Morrell; and her sisters, brothers, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
