Marlowe Thorson, Bismarck passed away peacefully at the age of 82 with his family at his side on Saturday, September 10, 2022.  A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm Monday, September 19, 2022, at the Bismarck Funeral Home.  Burial will be at the Tolna North Dakota Cemetery at a future date.

Marlowe was born April 29, 1940, in McVille, North Dakota to Marcella and Stanley Thorson of Pekin North Dakota. Marlowe graduated from Tolna High School in 1958.

On June 17, 1960, Marlowe married Marilyn Burns in Tolna.  Over the years they lived in Tolna, Minneapolis, Maddock, Northwood and then moved to Bismarck in 1995.  Marlowe worked for several years for the Farmer’s Union Oil Company in Tolna and then settled into a career as a Territory Manager for farm equipment companies in Minnesota and North Dakota.

Marlowe enjoyed the outdoors both hunting and fishing.  He operated a salmon fishing guide service out of Lake Sakakawea in North Dakota.  Marlowe was interested in all types of boating activities including working as a Captain of the Missouri River Boat in Bismarck.  Marlowe also enjoyed cooking for his family and his later years baking and making lefsa.

Marlow is survived by his wife, Marilyn of Bismarck, 4 children and 8 grandchildren: son Tracy Thorson (Ryan, Katie, Megan, and Ella) of Fargo, ND, son James Thorson and wife Suzy (Sara and Jenna) of Thompson, ND, daughter Jill Fix and husband Greg (Austin and Ruthie) of Farmington, MN and daughter Kristi Thorson of Apple Valley, MN.  And 1 Great-Grandson Kash Okland of Fargo.

Marlowe is proceeded in death by his parents, In-Laws, Earl and Hazel Burns, Grandparents, 2 sisters and a brother.
