LORAINE SCHLAHT

Loraine Schlaht, 93, died June 14, 2019, a resident of Sunset Living Center, Mandan, ND.  As her family, we are very thankful for the loving, kind and professional care she received in the last years of her life.  The services of Sanford Hospice helped make her last days peaceful and comfortable.

A funeral will be held at English Lutheran Church, Medina, ND on Thursday, June 20th, at 10:00 a.m. with visitation at 9:30 a.m. before the service.  Burial will be at the Medina Cemetery immediately after the service.  Donations to the English Lutheran Church of Medina would be appreciated in lieu of flowers.

Loraine M. Schlaht was born July 14, 1925 at Jamestown, ND.  The daughter of Jacob F. and Martha Dockter, she attended the local rural school in Medina.  Loraine married Clarence Wittmier in 1945.  He died in 1948.  Loraine married Earl Schlaht in 1950 in Medina, ND.  They farmed until 1979.  Upon retiring, they moved to Medina.  She was an active member of the English Lutheran Church, Medina.  She enjoyed serving in various ways at the church.  She also enjoyed embroidery, gardening, bowling and bingo.  In later life, she very much enjoyed the coffee times at the local Café with her friends. 

Lorraine is survived by two sons, Ronnie (Judith) Wittmier, Bismarck, ND; James (Audrey) Schlaht, Medina; and four daughters, Clara (James) Dockter, Bismarck; Sandra (Leo) Jablonski, Mishawaka, IN; Karen (Terry) Johnson, Golden, CO; and Marcia (Leslie) Mehlhoff, Mandan, ND; ten grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by a sister, Erna Duvall of Jamestown and a brother, Lloyd Dockter of Sacramento, CA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, four brothers and a sister. 

She was kind her whole life to everyone that she knew and met; selfless in everything with a wonderful sense of humor.  She will be greatly missed.
