LoEtta Sellner, 87, of Bismarck, died peacefully Oct. 26, 2024 at her place of residence at Haycreek Lodge. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, Nov. 4, at 11:30 a.m. at Grace Pointe Church with Rev. Duncan Hannestad officiating. Burial will be held at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
LoEtta was born on Dec.3, 1936 in Steele to William and Matilda (Seher) Remmich, the youngest of 10 children. After graduating from Steele High School in 1954 she attended Valley City State Teacher’s College and also attended Asbury College in Kentucky.
LoEtta fell in love with Wallace Sellner and they were married in 1960. They moved around a bit in their early years residing in Elgin, Bismarck, Carrington, Oakes, and finally back to Bismarck. They were also blessed with a daughter Letha and son Wayne. LoEtta taught school briefly in Hazelton and worked as a teacher’s aid in Oakes from 1970 to 79. In 1979 they moved back to Bismarck for Wallace’s job relocation. Shortly thereafter they purchased the Karmelkorn Shoppe, running that for a few years until her allergies decided for her it would be in their best interest to get out of the popcorn business.
LoEtta, who loved her family, friends, and social gatherings with them thought it would be best to move to the Primrose (Haycreek Lodge) in 2018 where her sister Rachel and her husband Harold DeKrey resided. We are happy Rachel and her were able to see each other daily that first year and I can imagine neither was at a loss for words knowing them as we do! I would like to thank the staff of Haycreek Lodge for the care and assistance they provided.
LoEtta was a devout Christian and a regular attendee at Gracepoint Church. She made many lifelong friends over the years at all the churches she attended. She just recently “retired” from the White Cross Ministry for widowed females in Africa which she volunteered for. God must have decided her work on earth was done.
She was an avid reader, enjoyed crossword puzzles, reunions, and tuning in a Bison or Viking football game. She loved the monthly get togethers at A&B Pizza with her family. I imagine she is organizing a pizza party in heaven!
LoEtta is survived by her son, Wayne Sellner (Tami Stuhlmiller); granddaughter Larissa (Kip) Harrington, grandson Dayton Farley; sister Arlene Kirk; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Wallace; daughter Letha; brothers, Alvin and Lorran; sisters, Emma, Viola, Elsie, Leah, Florence, and Rachel.
