Les was born to Edward and Norma (Wacker) Leno on April 11, 1956 in Bismarck, ND. He grew up in Bismarck and attended Bismarck High School and graduated in 1975. While working as an assistant manager at Hardees, Les met Marla (Carlson) and soon was married to the love of his life. Les and Marla were married March 17th, 1978 and moved to Jamestown, ND to start their life together. Les managed the Jamestown Hardees between 3-4 years.

Les then switched careers and took on a manager position at KFC in Jamestown. Within a few years’ time Les and his family moved to Williston to manage the KFC there. After living in Williston for a little over a year, Les and Marla decided to move closer to family and came back to live in Bismarck.
Les took on a manager position with Polar Package Place. Not long after working at Polar, Les was told by doctors he could not work and was permanently placed on disability. During his disability years, Les spent his time with friends and family, and lived his life to the fullest. Even through all the physical challenges Les faced, he was still able to take care of his family and maintain a sense of humor. Family was everything to him.
