Leonard Taghon

April 6, 1960 — September 6, 2024

Lenny (Leonard) Taghon, 64, of Bismarck passed away on Friday, September 6, 2024 at his home following complications from a recent stroke.

A memorial service will be held 10:30 am on Friday, September 13, 2024, at Bismarck Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Lenny was born on April 6, 1960 along with his twin brother Larry to Robert and Kathryn (Schaff) Taghon. He grew up on the family farm, graduated from Mandan High School in 1978, and attended Bismarck State College. He married Beth Breckel on September 2, 1989 and they had two sons, Joshua and Jordan, and they made their home in the Bismarck-Mandan area.

Lenny worked at the Bismarck Tribune until his oldest son was born. He then became a stay-at-home father and later returned to the Tribune until he retired. Outside of work, he spent time with his wife, kids, dogs, and the rest of the family. He enjoyed woodworking and carpentry and surprised many family members with handcrafted wooden gifts. He also enjoyed tending the garden, landscaping and yard work, driving his four-wheelers, camping and walking his dogs, reading the Bismarck Tribune, and keeping up-to-date with the news and politics. He was always willing to lend a hand to any family or friends who needed help with construction projects and maintenance around the house or farm.

He is survived by his wife, Beth Taghon, Bismarck; sons, Joshua Taghon, Steele, and Jordan Taghon (Brent Lipponen), Bismarck; granddaughter, Aubrey Lipponen; brothers, Larry (Debbie) Taghon, Faribault, MN, Don (Janeen) Taghon, Mandan; sisters, Carol (Wayne) Friesz, Mandan, Joyce (Curt) Meyer, Fargo, and Gloria (Steve) Alfstad, Mankato, MN; sister-in-law, Darcey Nitschke, Fargo; brother-in-law, Jonathan Breckel, Bismarck, as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Kathryn Taghon; brother, Marvin Taghon, who died in infancy; mother-in-law, Elaine (Tschritter) Breckel and father-in-law, Calvin Breckel.
