Vern had no greater joy than his family. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather. He had a kind heart, hearty laugh and an infectious smile. He enjoyed traveling the world with his family, but when at home in Bismarck or at his lake home in Minnesota, he was a generous host to his friends and family.
