Kim Janssen, 62, of Bismarck, passed away September 14, 2024, at her home. She was diagnosed with cancer in January 2019. Her strong will to live, unwavering faith in God, and the love and prayers of her family and friends allowed us to have five and half more years with her.
A Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 PM on Sunday, September 22, 2024, at Bismarck Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held Saturday, September 21, 2024, from 5:00-6:00 PM at Bismarck Funeral Home, with a Prayer Service at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service on Sunday.
Kim was born and raised in Williston, North Dakota (the good ole’ days) to Lowell and Arlene Wells on March 16, 1962. She married Ken Fritel on June 11, 1982, and was blessed with her two children, Amber and Shawn, who she loved and adored. She had six grandchildren, Austin, Braden, Cameron, Emelyn, Bostyn, and Kenzie, who were her pride and joy. She enjoyed spending time with them, spoiling them, and providing wisdom and guidance.
She later moved to Minot and more recently Bismarck in 2016. It didn’t matter where she lived, coffee was always on and she was always there to take your call, or invite you into her beautiful home. The things that Kim loved and enjoyed were vast, from watching NASCAR races, to her horses, crafting, music, and the beach.
She touched the lives of everyone she came in contact with, and she was a fierce advocate for everyone in her circle. Throughout her own struggles with cancer, she reached out and helped those who were struggling, providing comfort to others whether it be through work, the cancer treatment center, or someone she just met.
She is survived by her children, Amber Oyen, Bismarck; Shawn (Nikki) Fritel, Max, ND; grandchildren, Austin Hunt, Braden Fritel, Cameron Lemere, Emelyn Oyen, all from Bismarck and Bostyn and Kenzie Fritel from Max, ND; her mother, Arlene Wells, Williston; brother, Wade (Barb) Wells, Williston; niece, Jessica Wells, Denver, CO; niece-in-law, Amanda Haverkamp, Barnesville, MN.
She was preceded in death by her father, Lowell Wells; brother, Greg Wells; nephew, Dana Wells; niece, Miranda Wells; and son-in-law, Andrew Oyen.
