June L. Kline

d. August 16, 2023

Our beautiful mother, June Lenora Kline, left this earth bound for heaven on August 16, 2023.

June 1st was a special date for our mother.  Not only was she born to Edwin and Clara Matz on June 1, 1920 in Minot, ND, it was also the date of her wedding to her beloved Harry Kline in 1948.

Growing up, her childhood was spent in Brandon, Manitoba and Minot.  She graduated from Minot High School in 1938 and Minot State Teacher’s College in 1942.  She taught school in Powers Lake, ND and Minot before marrying her Harry.

Harry and June spent the first years of their marriage in Antler, ND, before moving to Westhope, ND, where they raised their two daughters, Kathryn and Kristen. June returned to teaching at Westhope Elementary in the mid 60’s.  After their retirements, Harry and June enjoyed many winters in Palm Springs, CA, but eventually chose to “winter” in Minot.

After Harry died June continued to split her time between Westhope and Minot for many years before moving full time to Minot where she lived until she lost her house in the Minot flood of 2011.  She then moved to Bismarck, ND, to be nearer her daughter.  She enjoyed many years living life to the fullest at Touchmark before moving to Benedictine Living Community.

June was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Westhope and was involved in many church activities.  She was a lifelong learner who loved traveling, reading, gardening, ornithology and Jeopardy (She could still get some of the final Jeopardy answers at age 103!).   These traits she passed on to her daughters along with her fabulous sense of fashion.  But most of all she loved her family.

She is survived by her daughters Kathryn Fox, Keokuk, IA, and Kristen (Jack) Paris, Bismarck, 4 grandchildren, Adam Fox, Allison Fox, Andrew (Katherine) Paris, and Matthew (Helen) Paris, 3 great-grandchildren, Jack, Crosby and Elizabeth June Paris, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Harry Kline, her parents, Edwin and Clara Matz, her sister, Carol Svenkeson, her infant brother, Martin, and her son-in-law, Robert C. Fox.

Our family would like to thank the staff at Benedictine Living Community who cared for June these last six years of her life.

Cremation has taken place and funeral services will be held at a later date with burial in the Westhope Cemetery.
