Julie Ann Larson (Jules Boom), age 70, of Edgeley, North Dakota, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, January 24th, 2024, at CHI Hospital in Bismarck.

A Prayer Service will be on Friday, February 2nd at New Song Church, 3200 N. 11th St, Bismarck, from 5-7:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be on Saturday, February 3rd, at New Song Church at 11:00 a.m. Flowers and cards can be sent to New Song Church.

Julie was born in Valley City, ND, on August 7th, 1953, to Eugene and Violet Boom. She was the second oldest of five siblings. She graduated from Marion High School in 1971 and eventually found her career in the oil and gas industry as a Petroleum Landman. She met the love of her life, Randy Vandehoven, in Carrington. Randy and Julie were married in January of 1983 and lived in Carrington to start their life with four kids.

Growing up, Julie loved to go horseback riding with her siblings and spent her winters ice skating on Boom Lake. As she got older, she threw her energy into sewing and gardening. The woman could grow anything! Julie spent her time shooting pool, playing softball and card games (pinochle was her favorite), and doing basically whatever her kids wanted to do.

But more than anything, Julie loved her family. She was known for helping anybody and keeping the teenagers in the town of Finley alive with her cooking. She was equal parts commanding and compassionate. You could find her in a crowded room by the overwhelming scent of her Rapture perfume and her booming laugh. Anything her kids or grandkids took an interest in quickly became her interests. Even as her kids rebelled growing up, Julie would lovingly encourage (or demand) they read their Bible. Julie committed her life to Jesus and continued to grow in her faith until her last breath.

Julie is survived by her kids, Preston (Jessica) Vandehoven, Billie Jo (Dan) Lukes, John Vandehoven, and Rosetta Vandehoven; her grandchildren, Logan, Morgan, Randi Jo, Katlyn, and Kenzie; her siblings, Shirley Cook, Deb (Rick) Burcham, Nancy Dahl, and Joel (Althea) Boom; and several nieces and nephews that she loved like her own kids. Also, she leaves behind two grand-puppies, Titan and Oakley and two grand-kitties, Dude and Blu.

Julie is preceded in death by her husband, Randy; parents, Eugene and Violet; brother, Kenneth; nephew, Quinton; brother-in-law, Dwight; and her cousin, Stan.
