JoyAnn Holsten, a beloved member of the Wing, North Dakota community, passed away on November 13, 2024 at the age of 81. Born on April 11, 1943, in, North Dakota, JoyAnn dedicated her life to her family, career, and community.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at Sunne Lutheran Church, Wilton, ND. The visitation will be held from 6:00 – 7:00 PM with a Prayer Service celebrating her life at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at Bismarck Funeral Home. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
JoyAnn's career spanned various roles, including work at Kmart, where she met her late husband, John Holsten. However, her most cherished position was as a librarian at Wing Public School, where she fostered a love of reading in countless children. JoyAnn was a proud graduate of Wing High School, and her commitment to education remained a central part of her life.
Her passions extended beyond her professional endeavors. JoyAnn found joy in sewing, crocheting, gardening, and working in her yard, often using these skills to nurture her surroundings and create a warm home for her family. She was actively involved in the Sunne Lutheran Church and contributed significantly to the VFW Auxiliary in Tuttle and Bismarck, ND, reflecting her spirit of service and dedication to her community.
JoyAnn is survived by her children, Charles Rodacker, Tabatha Halvorson, Rebecca Rodacker (Kevin Dearinger), and Elizabeth (Glenn) Nichol; her grandchildren, Cara Rodacker, Kheldon Rodacker, Cory Worful, Kyle Worful, Nathan Worful, Ever Dearinger, Amee Nichol, and Pennie Nichol; and great-grandchildren, David Rhea, Arabella Worful, Brooklyn Krehlik, and Ali Krehlik. She is also survived by her partner, Lawrence Koffler, and her siblings, Julie Benning, and Anthony Roll, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws.
JoyAnn was preceded in death by her spouse, John Holsten; her parents, Clifford and Olga (Bossert) Josephson; her siblings, Janette Mathany and James Josephson; and her daughter-in-law, Leva (White) Rodacker.
JoyAnn Holsten will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of love, kindness, and community service will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
