A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, February 4th at Bismarck Funeral Home. Family will be greeting guests one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at 2:00 PM at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery with military honors.
Jon was born on January 11, 1969, in Provo Utah to Jon Roger Krupp and Sylvia Marjean (Muir) Krupp. His parents returned to their home state of Washington and raised 4 sons of whom Jon was the eldest. Jon was a very imaginative child who loved reading, especially novels and comics. He loved spending time with his cousins and grandparents who lived nearby. He was active in Boy Scouts and earned his eagle scout award. As he grew older, he discovered the love of writing and would spend hours inventing stories, something he did right up to the present. He graduated from Kentridge High school. A short time later, as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints he served in the Anaheim California mission.
Jon served as a United States Marine for six years. He was very proud of his military service and loved to share stories of his travels. He was stationed in places like Cuba, Okinawa and did a six-month overseas deployment on the USS Peleliu. This enabled him to experience places in the Middle East such as Kuwait, and gain desert training.
During his time at Camp Pendleton he met and married Joanne Mclean. Together they had 3 children. They raised the family in California, Washington, Utah and North Dakota. He worked in Computer IT, and later chose to become a truck driver. This led him to every state and gained him many skills and expertise, including explosives hauler. This experience made him an excellent candidate for a job in the oil fields of North Dakota where he worked up until his passing. He was a very dependable, hard worker and worked in conditions that only the tough could have withstood.
Jon enjoyed his kids immensely. He passed on many wonderful qualities to his children, including his quirky (and sometimes dark) sense of humor, his kindness to others, and his love for fantasy and games. He was also a very loving and patient father to his disabled daughter, Emily. He handled her disability in a way that not all could, often times finding humor in the most difficult of things which was a blessing to his family. When things would go unexpected, he would call them “Krupp Adventures”. There were many, many Krupp Adventures!
Jon is survived by his 3 children, Emily (29), Madelyn (24), and Logan (19); parents, Roger and Marjean Krupp; brothers, Randy (Heather), Tod (Jesicca), and William (Kristina).
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ross and Betty Muir, Norman and Irma Krupp; and his aunt, Pamela Muir.
