John Wise, 80, Jamestown, died January 30, 2019 at a Jamestown care center. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 6, at Bismarck Funeral Home. Burial will be held at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
John was born December 8, 1938 in Mercer, ND to John and Magdalena (Glasser) Wise. He grew up in Regan, ND and graduated from Regan High School. He served in the US Navy from 1956-1958 and was honorably discharged in March of 1958.
He married Julia “Judy” Birdsell February 20, 1960. They lived in Bismarck with their daughter, Jamie. In his early years he worked for Wachter Ranch. He then worked for Sweetheart Bakery for over 30 years until they closed. He worked for Bismarck Parks and Rec for a couple years before retiring. He liked working with horses, bingo and trips to the casino.
John is survived by his daughter Jamie & son-in-law John Pulkrabek; sisters RayMona Kling and Gladys (Milo) Wietstock; sisters-in-law Alma Doolittle (Larry Landsiedell) and Lou Glass; brother-in-law Gerald (Mona) Birsdell; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Judy, parents; brother Russell and his wife Ardyth; brother-in-law Darrell Kling; parents-in-law; and numerous sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
