John Miller Jr.

John Miller, Jr. 83, of Mandan, passed away on April 17, 2025 at Sunset Nursing Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Spirit of Life Catholic Church. Burial will be held at St. Gertrudes Catholic Cemetery in Raleigh, ND. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5-8 PM at Bismarck Funeral Home. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.

Born at home on December 27, 1941, John was the son of John R. and Annastasia (Riehl) Miller. He attended school at Leahy Grade School. John worked as a rancher and farmer, truck and school bus driver and construction worker. He loved horses and had a palomino team which he drove in parades and hauled wedding couples from church to their reception. John also had two racehorses which ran in Rapid City, Miles Cit, and Pierre. He enjoyed doing trail rides in Medora as well as deer hunting with friends. John loved riding his motorcycle and arctic snowmobiling.

John is survived by his sisters, Alvina (Bill) Schwehr, Bernadette (Dave) Weigel and Bernadine Miller and friend, Dave Tooke; sister-in-law, Evelyn Miller and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Annastasia (Riehl) Miller; sister, Gretchen and husband Dick Stotts; brother, Raymond Miller; nephews, Craig Weigel, Lonnie Weigel, David Stotts and Brian Stotts.
