John William Anderson

John William Anderson age 88 of Bismarck, died Monday March 17th at CHI St Alexius Medical Center.

A memorial will be held Friday, March 28th at 11:00 a.m. at Bismarck Funeral Home with a visitation 1 hour prior to service. Service will be conducted by Pastor Dan Sweeney of McCabe United Methodist Church.

John was born on March 26th, 1936, in Marquette, Michigan to Herbert and Edith Anderson. He grew up with 3 siblings: Joyce, Dolly, and Rick Anderson. John spent his youth in Marquette working on a bread delivery truck, running around with friends who he remained close to his entire life, hanging out on the beach, and cliff diving into Lake Superior. He graduated from John D Pierce high school in 1954.

He married the love of his life, Mary Ann Biscomb, on July 27th, 1957, in Marquette. They had 4 children: Mark, Scott, Jeff, and Lisa.

John worked at Red Owl Grocery stores in Marquette and Winnetka, Illinois. A position as a salesman for Super Valu brought a move to Bismarck in 1962. After leaving Super Valu, John went to work for Bankers Life & Casualty and finished his career as a sales rep for Hotsy Equipment in Bismarck.

John was an avid woodworker, making beautiful pieces for family and friends. He was an amazing chef and loved cooking for everyone. His recipes will be made with love and appreciation by generations to come. John could be a prankster and loved a good laugh. He was a good friend, a loving husband, and dedicated father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He appreciated spending time with family, friends, and neighbors.

John is survived by his children; Mark Anderson (DeeAnn), Scott Anderson (Renee), Jeff Anderson (Gay), and Lisa Richter. His grandchildren: Tiffany DaSilva (John), Cory Anderson (Marie), Sarah Jacobsen (Matt), Karmen Anderson, Zachary Anderson (Kaitie), Michael Anderson (Madison), Sam Richter, and Libby Richter. Great Grandchildren: Ashlyn Anderson, Delanee, Thoreson, Seaver, and Evangeline Jacobsen, Eve, Diana, and Audrey Anderson.

Sister Dolly Manning and brother Rick Anderson along with many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by beloved wife Mary Ann Anderson June 11th, 2012, and sister Joyce Kulju quite some time ago.
