Jean “Robby” Robinson, 92. Bismarck, ND passed away February 21 st at his home.  A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 10, 2023, at Zion Lutheran Church, Bismarck.  The service will be livestreamed on the church website.  Burial will be at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.

Jean was born December 10, 1930, to Claude and Gladys (Jerome) at their home in Garrison, ND.  He attended school in Garrison, graduating in 1948.  Following high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving on the USS Yellowstone. After he was discharged, he worked on the Garrison Dam for a short time. He was hired by Northwestern Bell Telephone In 1953 and was employed there for 30 years. In 1956, he married Leona Wehmhoefer at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Minot, ND.  In the fall of 1956, he was transferred to Williston where he and Leona made their home for 15 years and where their four children were born. In 1971, they were transferred to Bismarck.  After Jean retired, he was kept busy playing taxi for his grandchildren, taking them to and from school and getting them to their many activities.  Jean volunteered for many community events.  One of his favorites was serving on the VFW Honor Guard.  He was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church.

Jean is survived by his wife of 66 years, Leona. He is also survived by his son David (Karin), daughters –  Kim (Josh), Cindy (Lonnie) Mettler, his brother Marshall, brother-in law Jerry Wehmhoefer, sisters-in-law Janice Wehmhoefer (David Hansen), Shirley Faydo, Ruby (Fred) Black and Gail Prostrollo, his grandchildren, Rikki (Ryan Fahrmann), Ryan (Andrea) Hensley, Michael Mettler, Kristen (Benjamin) Brandt, Craig (Reese) Mettler, Thomas (Mandy) Robinson, Aaron Mettler, Robby Robinson, Jay (Sara) Robinson, 14 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Karen and son, Donald, his brothers, Claude, Jr., Ray, Larry, Howard, his sister, Eunice and brothers-in-law, Richard Wehmhoefer and Lloyd Faydo.
