Hazel (Hartman) Cleveland was born May 5, 1940, in Mott, ND the daughter of Chester and Edith (Preston) Hartman. She grew up and was educated in Mott. She was united in marriage to Keith Cleveland on Oct. 7, 1961 in Mott. Over the years they resided in various towns in ND, SD, MN, and in 1974 settled in Bismarck where they finished raising their family. Hazel was employed by Dr. Hankins and also at Holiday House in Mott. Hazel was active in volunteering at The Bismarck Senior Center, and received award recognition for 12 years of dedication working in the office and gift shop. She was well known by many and her smile brought happiness to all those around her. Her selfless nature was shown endlessly with her family. It was her biggest joy in life to create family memories and special times. She was often remembered as the person who inspired togetherness and fellowship. This was clearly seen by the way her family lovingly responded to her gentle heartfelt nature. She dearly loved being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Moments shared with her daughter during ceramics, time spent reading, sit downs around the campfire on camping outings, and tapping her feet to her favorite country music were also her joys and our great honor to have shared in them.
