Gladys Elaine Jamtgaard, 80, passed away on August 4, 2019, in Bismarck. A memorial service will take place Saturday, August 10, 2019, at 10:00 a.m., at the Bismarck Funeral Home. Burial will take place at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery later this fall.
Gladys was born on April 22, 1939, to Ruben and Hulda (Hummel) Schlenker, in McLean County, ND. She married L.J. “Whitey” Jamtgaard, on October 20, 1957. They spent 54 years together until he passed away in 2011. Together they had two sons, Mark and Joel.
She is survived by two sons, Mark (Joanne) Jamtgaard, of Gillette, WY, and Joel Jamtgaard, of Bismarck, ND; grandchildren, Cody Jamtgaard, Bowman, ND, Jessie Jamtgaard, Denver, CO, Austin Jamtgaard, Lincoln, ND, Scott Jamtgaard, Denver, CO; and two great-grandsons; brothers: Dennis Schlenker, Loveland, CO and Art Schlenker, Anoka, MN; and sisters: Gertie Schreiner, Garrison, Phyllis Duarte, Carmichael, CA and Virginia Schock, Grand Forks, ND.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, L.J. “Whitey” and brother, Howard Schlenker.

Am sending my thoughts and prayers to you, I had many good times with Gladys and loved her. So sorry I couldn’t get down to visit her more often after she moved to Bismarck. God Bless you all. She loved her family Big Time and was so proud of you all.

I’m sorry about losing your mom. She was a wonderful lady. I had the pleasure of getting to know her while visiting my mom at Augusta place. We shared the love of crossword puzzles, even brought her a couple new books last month. She loved it and boy did we have some fun chats. She was so sweet to my mom, was her 1st friend when mom moved in in march. She would stop by and they’d have a great time visiting. We are going to miss her. For only knowing her a short time, she made a big impact on our lives. Hugs to her family.
