Georgiene Snyder

Georgiene Snyder, 83, of Bismarck, formerly of Williston, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on April 14, 2025, in Bismarck, North Dakota, after a short but courageous battle with cancer.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, April 24, 2025 at Bismarck Funeral Home. Interment to follow at 12:00 PM at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND.

Born in Hallock, Minnesota, on December 8, 1941, Georgiene was the oldest of seven children born to George and Alice (Wood) Huggins. From a young age, she embodied the role of the quintessential oldest daughter—loving, responsible, and nurturing. She was a second mother to her siblings: Frank, Jack, Nina, Bob, Jim, and Robin.

After graduating from Williston High School, Georgiene and her sister Nina ventured to Arizona to work for a few years before returning to Williston. There, she joined her father at the family business, Basin Electronics, where friends and family were always welcome at the kitchen table above the shop.

On October 18, 1975 she married the love of her life, Charles W. “Bill” Snyder and she became the beloved mother of three children, Joe Snyder from Dallas TX, Julie (Bill) Kay from Williston and Jill Schafer from Centennial CO. She also became a grandmother to three grandchildren, Lacie (Shawn) White from Williston, Trey (Amber) Schafer from Castle Rock, CO, and Lincoln (Chloe) Schafer from San Diego, CA. She was loved greatly by her great-grandkids, Burkley and Brecklyn White and Jasper Schafer.

Georgiene and Bill shared a deep, abiding love that was beautiful to witness—especially when they waltzed together, gliding across the dance floor like professionals. Their life together was filled with love, laughter, and meaningful adventures. They traveled to Hawaii, cruised the seas, and visited Washington D.C.—a special trip gifted by their best friends, Warren Larson and Kathy Bingeman.  A woman of many talents, Georgiene loved cross-stitching, crocheting, and puzzles—both jigsaw and crossword. Her handmade creations were treasured gifts to friends and family. Alongside Bill, they built and finished countless Adirondack chairs and doll cradles. Each doll cradle was topped with one of Georgiene’s hand made blankets. They were often given to strangers with only one request in return: a photo of the child with their new gift. Their workshop had a wall with these cherished photos.

Georgiene also lovingly crafted and decorated Christmas stockings that will be passed down and treasured for generations to come.  A loyal Atlanta Braves fan, Georgiene never missed a game—win or lose, she cheered them on faithfully.

She embraced many honorary family members throughout her life. Among them were Warren Larson and Kathy Bingeman of Bismarck, who shared countless meals, conversations, and holidays with her. She was a regular at sporting events with their son and his family, Kris and Nikki Ahmann for Paige, Piper, and Zander and loved them all dearly.

Georgiene is preceded in death by her beloved husband Bill, her parents George and Alice Huggins, her siblings Frank, Jim, and Robin, her sister-in-law Melody Huggins, and nephew Shawn Huggins. Georgiene will be laid to rest beside her beloved Bill. Her family finds peace knowing they are dancing together once again.
