Fran (Potts) Trapp

d. June 4, 2023

Fran (Potts) Trapp, 73, Bismarck, ND, passed away June 4, 2023, at CHI St. Alexius Health, Bismarck, ND.

Fran was born April 3, 1950, in LaMoure, ND, to Grover and Sarah Jane (Skovgaard) Potts. She was raised and educated in LaMoure, ND. On June 2, 1969, she married Harvey Trapp at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Jamestown, ND. Fran and Harvey had two children, Travis and Kristen and lived in Karlsruhe, ND and Forman, ND. The family moved to Lisbon, ND in 1974. Fran worked at S&J Hallmark and in Harvey’s insurance and real estate office. While working in Harvey’s office, she became a licensed real estate agent. Fran and Harvey moved to Bismarck in 1995 where she helped take care of her grandchildren, worked as “Grandma Fran” at the Learning House daycare, and at Real Deals.

Fran will be remembered for her kind heart and generosity. She enjoyed bargain shopping and seemed to have a coupon for everything. She enjoyed watching her rhubarb grow and baking treats in the kitchen. She loved watching her grandchildren’s activities and was so proud of each of them. Fran and Harvey’s pride and joy was their cabin in Medora, ND where they would spend time with family and friends. Fran would invite everyone she knew to join them for a visit at the cabin.

She is survived by her son, Travis (Melissa Discher) Trapp, Moorhead, MN; daughter, Kristen (Troy) Kihle, Bismarck, ND; sisters Sarah Jane “Sally” Lofthus, Nampa, ID, Patricia Burgum, Mobile, AL, Mary Charrier, Brooklyn Center, MN; brothers, Martin (Julie) Potts, Gwinner, ND, Rick (Julie) Potts, Chandler, AZ; three grandchildren, Paige, Taylyn, and Peyton Kihle; two sisters-in-law, Vione (Keith) McCleary, Marion, ND and Joan Trapp, Marion, ND; numerous nieces, nephews, and many special friends.

Fran was preceded in death by her husband, her parents; her brothers, Robert and Bill; sisters Virginia, Laurie, and Nancy.

Per Fran’s wishes, no service will be held. As an expression of sympathy, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Bismarck Capitals Legion Baseball team and the Bismarck Cancer Center.
