Elaine Himmelspach

Elaine Bittner Himmelspach, 85, of New Salem, North Dakota, passed away on December 10, 2024, in Bismarck North Dakota.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Monday December 16, 2024, at Bismarck Funeral Home with the Pastor Martha HarriSon officiating. Burial will follow at Peace Church Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. 

Elaine Bittner Himmelspach was born to Gottlieb and Mildred Bittner, on July 2, 1939. They moved to the dairy farm in New Salem when Elaine was about 3. She married Joseph Himmelspach on July 7, 1956, in Glen Ullin, ND. Most of their married life they lived on her family farm in New Salem, ND, where they raised their children and ran the dairy farm. After Joe passed away, Elaine moved to Mandan, ND, into a home she purchased and was immensely proud of. Later moving to an assisted living apartment at Edgewood Vista, then to St Gabriel’s. 

Elaine was very proud of her children and grandchildren. She loved visiting with friends and family, enjoyed bingo, word searches, puzzles and collecting. Her collections included Holstein cow everything, salt and pepper shakers, and cookie jars. 

Elaine is preceded in death by her parents, Mildred and Gottlieb; her husband, Joseph Himmelspach; daughter, Sharron Bagley; grandsons, William (Billy) Bagley and Kregg Bagley.

Elaine is survived by her sons, Sherman Himmelspach, Sheldon Himmelspach, Shane (Amber) Himmelspach; son-in-law, Robert Bagley; grandchildren, Krista Bartz, Kyla Bagley, Kari Brannon, Jesse Himmelspach, Amanda Peterson, Justin Himmelspach, Marinna Omar, Dustin Himmelspach, Payton Himmelspach, Wyatt Himmelspach and 16 Great Grandchildren.
