Dean Smith, 75, of Bismarck, passed away on July 18, 2022, in a Bismarck Hospital.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 25, at 11:30 a.m. at the Bismarck Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Moldenhauer officiating. Burial will be held at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. A livestream of the service will be available on the Bismarck Funeral Home Facebook page.
Dean was born on Feb. 14, 1947, to Walter and Aloise (Ross) Smith in Thief River Falls, MN. He attended school in Middle River, MN and graduated in 1965. Dean served in the US Army in 1966 during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1969. He married Sandy and had two children together, Robert and Michelle who were such a blessing to Dean. They divorced and later married Lavonne Lundt in 1992. Dean worked for AAA North Dakota and later AmeriPride Service which is where he retired.
He loved fishing, dogs and watching the Minnesota Vikings.
He is survived by his wife Lavonne, of Bismarck, two children, Robert Smith, of Florida, and Michelle (Matt) Chapple of Baton Rouge, LA; three grandchildren, Madison, Mason and Zac; and two sisters, Faye Emmons, of Thief River Falls, MN, Marsha (Robert) Bren, of Minneapolis, MN.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Jerry Smith.
