Daniel Hruby

Dan Hruby died peacefully on September 4, 2024, with his favorite person in the world by his side. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m., Tuesday September 10, 2024, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church with luncheon to follow. Visitation will be held at Bismarck Funeral Home Monday September 9 from 5-7pm. Rosary/Vigil Service will follow at 7pm.  Interment will be held at St Peter & Paul Ukrainian Cemetery in Wilton.

Dan was born June 14, 1964, in Bismarck, ND to Don and Lou (Taplin) Hruby.  As part of the Wilton High School class of 1982, he spent his younger years “raising hell” in his first pride & joy, his Candy Apple Red ‘67 Chevy pickup, and playing drums in the Stonewall Band. Well, until the next “pride and joy” came along, his daughter, DesiRae.

Dan married Jennifer Hedstrom July 20, 1985. “His boy” Jamie came along shortly after. With him, Dan found the perfect project buddy. They worked on many projects together, including rebuilding Jamie’s 1972 Camaro.

Dan spent his early employment years working on the family farm, driving truck at Hedstrom Trucking and as a mechanic at Wilton Cenex. He earned his degree in Power plant technology at BSC. He later worked at the Burleigh County Courthouse security until the b*#$% of a disease, Multiple Sclerosis, required him to medically retire.

Dan truly found a second family with his club brothers in the Freedom Riders Motorcycle Club. He enjoyed riding his Harley on the open road and partying with friends. He even took each of his kids along to Sturgis for their 21st birthdays!

Dan is survived by his children DesiRae (Landon) Dinius and Jamie Hruby; grandchildren Zander, Sylar & Charlotte; mother, Lou, sisters Tammy Hruby & Cori (Chad) Radke and some pretty wonderful nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father Don, brother Jamie Michael, grandparents Mike & Mary Hruby and Ralph & Marjory Taplin.
