Charlotte Wachter, 100, Bismarck, passed away August 25, 2018, at Marian Manor Healthcare Center, Glen Ullin, ND.
A public visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 29, 2018, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Bismarck Funeral Home. Funeral and burial services will be held in private by the family.
Charlotte (Sathre) Wachter was born on March 1, 1918, to John Claudius and Emma Marie (Kotke) Lindgron in Maddock, ND. After her mother died in 1918, she was adopted by the Honorable P.O. Sathre and Minnie Sathre of Finley, ND.
Charlotte was a music major and received her musical background and theory at Concordia College, Moorhead, MN, and the College of St. Olaf, Northfield, MN. She had a reputation as an accomplished piano player. She played piano for several North Dakota beauty pageants. Charlotte also had a beautiful voice and taught voice lessons at the Mehus Conservatory in Bismarck, ND.
Charlotte was united in marriage to Paul H. Wachter on October 4th, 1941 in Bismarck, ND.
Charlotte worked for the North Dakota Department of Public Instruction for 24 years before retiring to Mesa, AZ.
Charlotte will be deeply missed by her sons Paul C. "Kip" (Valerie) Wachter, Scottsdale, AZ, and Lance (Gail) Wachter, Bismarck, ND; grandchildren Paul Kristofer Wachter, Newport Beach, CA, Lisa Wachter, Wake Forest, NC, Chad (Stacy) Wachter, Bismarck; and her great-grandchildren Evan Harris and Nathan Harris, Wake Forest, NC and Derek Wachter, Preston Wachter and Kayley Wachter, Bismarck, ND.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her son Jeffrey Wachter; her biological and adopted parents; sisters Mildred, Alice, Evelyn, and Eva; brothers Walter, Donald, Claudius, and an infant brother.
