Bonnie Mae Jacobson, born on December 26, 1939, in Elgin, North Dakota, passed away peacefully on December 13, 2024, at the Good Samaritan Society – Sunset Drive in Mandan, ND, following complications from Alzheimer's disease. A beloved figure in her community, Bonnie will be remembered for her kind heart and gentle spirit.
She graduated from high school in Elgin, ND, and furthered her education at vocational school, specializing in reception and transcription. On September 17, 1965, Bonnie married Lee Jacobson, embarking on a loving partnership that lasted until Lee's passing. She held immense pride in her family.
Bonnie lived in Bismarck since 1985, where she dedicated 13 years of her career to BECEP, where she thrived in caring for children. Her love for the kids was evident, and they cherished her in return. A proud mother and grandmother, Bonnie found joy in attending the sporting events of her children and grandchildren, always cheering them on with unwavering support. A cherished bond was shared between Bonnie and her sister, Cathy Pearson. Together, they created countless memories, including spending joyful times at Pearson's farm. Her legacy of love, compassion, and dedication to family will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
She is survived by her son, LaMonte (Michelle) Jacobson; daughters, Lorelee Traxinger and Lesley Westin; and her grandchildren: Christopher Holden, Lindsay Johns, Courtney Koppy, Benjamin Jacobson, Zachary Jacobson, Kelsey Traxinger, Hannah Westin, and Wyatt Westin. Bonnie further embraced the joy of family with 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Cathy Pearson, along with many nieces and nephews who will greatly miss her warmth and affection.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee; sons-in-law, Robert Traxinger and Wade Westin; her parents, Ralph and Emma Lipelt; and six older siblings.
Visitation will be held on December 20, 2024, from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM, followed by a Memorial Service from 9:00 AM at Bismarck Funeral Home. Following the service, Bonnie will be laid to rest at North Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Mandan at 11:00 AM.
Bonnie Mae Jacobson will be remembered not only for her unwavering love for her family but also for the warmth she brought to every life she touched.
