Annie May Johnson

d. September 22, 2023

Annie May (Odde) Johnson of Mandan, passed away on Friday, September 22, 2023 in Bismarck, ND at St. Alexis Hospital.  A memorial service will

be held on Saturday, Sept. 30, at 11 a.m. at the Bismarck Funeral Home.  Burial will be held at Rosehill Cemetery in Minot in the Spring.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Annie May was born in McVille, North Dakota on October 24, 1932 to Rosie and John Odde.  She is their third daughter and her sisters are Ruth Marie

and Thelma Jane.  She was baptized and confirmed at the McVille Lutheran church.

Annie May married Roger Leroy Johnson on March 14, 1949 in Moorhead, MN.  Both were born and raised in McVille, ND and together have four

children, Deborrah, Mitchell, David and Melissa.  They lived in McVille after their marriage for five years and then moved to Minot, ND where Roger

was employed by the Soo Line Railroad.  After Roger’s passing, Annie May moved back to McVille, ND.  She has lived in various towns in ND, Lemmon, SD and Bismarck, before moving into Miller Point, Mandan, ND.

Annie May loved her husband and children.  Enjoyed her family and was a housewife who would provide the best care for them all.  She enjoyed her embroidery, sewing, playing cards and working on crossword puzzles.  There were shopping trips looking for treasures to add to her elephant and owl collections.  She was an avid reader and she enjoyed mysteries and local history.  Annie May also enjoyed times with her children and grandchildren when they visited.  She taught some of the grandchildren card games and made a homemade fudge candy that she would give each family at Christmas.

She loved animals as we had dogs and cats throughout the years.  Cats were really her special animal and they comforted her.  She missed Bart, her last cat, for many years and always told us don’t get me another cat as it is too hard when they get sick and die.  Cyrus, her automated cat, was a great comfort to her in the nursing home.

She is survived by 2 sons, Mitchell (Marilee) Johnson, David Johnson, 2 daughters, Debbie (Gary) Evenson, Melissa (Bob) McConnell, 3 granddaughters, Carla (Scott) Kruger, Lacy (Lucas) Sterr, Sarah (Rodney) Frederick, 3 grandsons, Grant (Eliza) Evenson, Christopher (Heidi) Johnson, Nathan (Anna) Johnson, great grandchildren, Cody Bohn, Reid Pikula and Ava Pikula, Fiona Evenson, Freyja, Aksel, Oskar, Isla Johnson, Lyla, Leana and Leo Sterr and 1 great great grandson, Madden Bohn, sister-in-law, Doris Johnson, cousin, Roderick Stave and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger L. Johnson, her parents, John and Rosie Odde, mother and father-in-law, John and Lottie Johnson, sisters, Marie (Ivan) Schlenk, Thelma (Leland) Haabak,  brothers-in-law, Harry and Gary Johnson and niece Sarina Johnson.

We want to express our thanks and appreciation to the staff at Miller Point and St. Alexius Hospital for caring for our dear mother.  May God continue to bless you all.
