Alan Iverson

d. January 13, 2024

Alan Iverson, 75, Bismarck, passed away January 13, 2024, in his home.  A memorial service will be held at 11:30 AM on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at Bismarck Funeral Home.

Alan was born in Williston, ND on June 12, 1948, to Arthur and Doris (Jacobson) Iverson. He was raised on the family farm South of Tioga. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He attended the Iverson School through the eighth grade, graduating from Tioga High School in 1966.

Alan was quiet, soft spoken, and lived a simple life. He enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins and the Minnesota Vikings. He took pleasure in many camping trips as well as ocean cruises with family and friends. He also learned that going on Carnival cruises with family and friends was a lot of fun! He liked to work, first helping his dad at a young age on the farm, and then running it along with his brothers after his dad passed away in 1967. He found his true calling in the oil field and loved every aspect of it. At 18, he began working for KBM Well Service, R.A. Prathers & Sons, and Wiedmer Brothers as a floor hand on workover rigs. He then worked for Halliburton Services for many years driving oil trucks and eventually becoming head operator of the bulk plant supplying cement to drilling companies. He also worked for Koch Services and retired from Ferrell Gas. He made many friends during these years, and they could spend hours recounting jobs spent in Montana, Wyoming, and North Dakota.

On August 14, 1970, he married Sally Weber, making their home in Tioga where they raised three daughters, Heidi Louise, Brittany Jade, and Alexius Lee. After retirement, they moved to Bismarck to be closer to their children and grandchildren.

Alan was especially proud of Heidi and Brittany for their careers in the military. He loved his grandchildren whom he referred to as “pretty awesome little people.”

Alan is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sally; children, Heidi (Jeremy) Sigl, Brittany Hill, Alexius Iverson; brothers, Myron Iverson and David (Joy) Iverson; brothers-in-law, Daniel Weber and Jack (Sherry) Weber; grandson, Colt Sigl; granddaughters, Hadley Sigl and Hayden Hill; five nieces, Yvette (Aaron) Kraft, Yvonne (Jeff) Delzer, Jenna (Dan) Hooper, Ashley Iverson, and Shana (Brett) Fried; two nephews, Brett Iverson and Trevor Iverson; and many cousins.

Alan is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Doris Iverson; brothers, Leroy and Owen; sister-in-law, Marla (Myron) Iverson; nieces, Lindsay Trauger and Amie Iverson; father and mother-in-law, Jake and Helen Weber.
